The Good Samaritan Hunger Relief Tax Incentives Act

http://www.hungeractioncenter.org/GSA.aspx

Fighting hunger is a team effort. Feeding America’s nationwide network provides food to 25 million people every year, and strong U.S. government programs are also vital to meet the nutritional needs of low-income Americans.
The business sector—including farmers, food manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and others—also plays an instrumental role in battling hunger. By donating food and transportation and promoting volunteerism, businesses of all sizes help put food on the tables of families in need. While businesses already make substantial contributions to fight hunger, improved public policies—particularly passage of the Good Samaritan Hunger Relief Tax Incentives Act—will promote even greater business participation in this effort.

Food Pantries Put Out Call For Help

I got such a great response about my previous two blogs that I was inspired to do some research and find out what can one person do to end hunger. In America and the world. (work still in progress)

Even if a person doesn't have a lot of money, they can still advocate.
Tell a friend with money, and then they can tell a friend, and it works.
Or write to Congress, the President, anyone you think can help.

While I was link surfing I came Across this group. They used to be America's Second Harvest but they changed their name to Feeding America.
They are very informative and would be a good group to get involved with if one wants to help, or needs help.

Take Action Now!
Below are some of the issues that are critical to the fight against hunger.

We're working to educate our elected officials about these issues.
You can help!

http://www.hungeractioncenter.org/actionalert.aspx

One of the most important ways you can get involved in Feeding America is by becoming a hunger advocate.
Advocacy is critical to fighting hunger, and becoming a hunger advocate offers many ways to become active not only in important public policy issues of the day, but also within your community.

Our advocates communicate with their legislators about hunger issues.

They talk to their friends and other social contacts about the need for a solution to hunger.
Many share their personal experiences with hunger with us. They develop their own personal hunger advocacy profiles so that we can work with them on a personal level to achieve the most effective actions and bring about true change.

*Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)*

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides low-income children with free, nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session and when increased numbers of children are at risk of hunger because they cannot access school meal programs. SFSP is the single-largest federal resource available for local sponsors who want to feed children in the summer months.

College is Free in America. Grants alone will pay the cost of many very good colleges. And the student should have over $700 left a semester, after tuition and books. Probably more nowadays, depends on financial income family size, etc.

Financial Aid Grants Are Free. No Repayment Ever!
You don't have to be a genius or have had great marks in high school to get into college nowadays. They may just make you take a couple of easy tests to see what Freshman classes are good for you. Nothing scary, like trying for scholarships. No academic requirements for financial aid.

Then there's Work Study. A easy job at minimum wage part of your financial aid package. Work at school much easier than running around.

Anyone can go to college. You don't have to be in or just out of high school. I was 28 when I started college.
I went to school with people who worked full time and still got straight A's. Better grades than I.

Call the Financial Aid Department of the college or university you want to attend and ask them any questions you have, or for an interview there for help getting the financial aid application completed.

I know a person can go to college with just financial aid. I did.

If you get really good marks as an undergraduate, there are a lot of good internships and scholarships. to pay for post graduate work.

Try never to take student loans.
It's better to go to a Good school that may not have such a big name, than to go into debt for ten years.

Some students may be able to get help paying off student loans; for certain professions like becoming teachers, doctors, etc. if you are willing to work in under served areas for a number of years.
Americorps Offers Some Financial Help For Students Too.
AmeriCorps

Student loans are good, if one is sure they can pay them off. Otherwise they're trouble.
Some of the smallest schools have the best teachers. Know what you want to learn and choose a school by how compatible they are with your goals.

In New York City, households with children are among the most vulnerable to food poverty. More than half of all households with children in our city struggle to afford food; a 32 percent increase since 2003. And the consequences of food poverty on children is striking! Food-poor children are 90 percent more likely to have fair/poor health than excellent/good health.

I have been busy finding new songs I've been really working hard editing for just the best videos.

The computer is the invention that saves the world! Communication is the answer. The world seems to have stopped communicating. We had some breakthroughs in understanding each other but the ability for people to communicate seems to have really slowed down.

I told my computer tech guy that I was on a Mission to save the world.
I cannot stand the craziness any more.

I thought maybe people just don't understand maybe if someone just tells them they will understand!

So I decided why not. I'm good at telling people what I think. All my life, every time someone gets in trouble they run to me for help.

I would like to see everyone in the world have a decent home, food, clothing, medicine all the things most people have. But there are places in the world where they have no water, food, anything!

This is why the world is always fighting. The poor want the rich to give back a little of what they stole from them.

I Hear Them All!
There are a lot of Revolutionaries out here.

I'm with you President Obama, I'm definitely ready to change the world. Just point me in the right direction!

Thank You For Our U.S. Military

I'm committed to doing my small part, to give these kids an even break. "They also serve (a little), who only stand and cheer" WWII saying
Prayer Wheel For Our Troops

Lord, Hold Our Troops In Your Great Hands.
Protect Them, As They Protect Us

If you read this, you will forward it on.
You just won't be able to stop yourself.

The average age of the military man is 19 years.
He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by
society as half man, half boy.

He's a recent High School graduate, drives a ten year old jalopy. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and a 155mm howitzer.

He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk.

He can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and can apply first aid like a professional.

He can march until he is told to stop,
or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation,
but he is not without spirit or individual dignity.

He is self-sufficient.

He has two sets of fatigues he washes one and wears
the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.

He can cook his own meals, mend
his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.

If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you
are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition
with you in the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons
and weapons like they were his hands.

He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still find ironic humor in it all.
He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short lifetime.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate
through his body while at rigid attention, while
tempering the burning desire to 'square-away ' those
around him who haven't bothered to stand,
remove their hat, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from
home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.
Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-
grandfather, he is paying the price for our
freedom.

Beardless or not, he is not a boy.
He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.
He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding.
Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration.

And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part.
As you go to bed tonight, remember this image. A short lull, a little shade and a picture of z loved ones in their helmets.

Prayer wheel for our military please don't break it Please send this on after a short prayer.

Prayer Wheel
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.

When you receive this, please stop for a moment
and say a prayer for our ground troops in
Afghanistan, sailors on ships, and airmen
in the air, and for those in Iraq.

This can be very powerful

Of all the gifts you could give a US Soldier,
Sailor, Coast guardsman, Marine,
or Airman, prayer is the very best one.
Pass it on to everyone and pray.
